Our History

Presents for a Purpose was started by Juan and Pia Calle in 2016. In that first year, we were able to help 2 families. The experience was so eye opening to us that the following year we reached out to our friends and family to join us. With their help, we were able to provide gifts and groceries to 8 families in need in 2017, 20 families in 2018, and 20 families in 2019. 

With the impact of COVID-19 in 2020, we didn’t know what the future of this program looked like. We knew that we would have to change our usual format and could no longer gather in large groups to shop at Wal-Mart together. We also thought that the amount of people able to help and the amount of money that people would be able to donate would decline. We thought that, at best, we could match what we did in 2019. We were wrong! In 2020, we were able to deliver gifts and groceries to 67 families and over 210 kids. 

In 2021, we moved PFAP out of our home and into a warehouse and were able to support 145 families and 380 kids. Thanks to the many donors and volunteers over the years, we have been able to sponsor over 350 families and over 850 kids.
